Besides work in the private sector, he has served as Chairman of the Board for the Virginia Housing Department Authority and worked for USDA and U.S. Department of HUD. He also is often retained as an expert witness for court cases. Mike is a member of the Appraisal Institute, CCIM Institute of the National Association of Realtors, and the Business Development Board of Village Bank. He has also served the following offices.
Mike lives in Richmond with his wife, Rene Miller. They both enjoy skiing and collecting Regency Empire period antiques. Mike's daughter, JMU graduate Allison N. Miller, is a member of a Charlottesville CPA firm. Mike is also an avid genealogist, and has traced his family’s roots back to Jamestown in 1611.
